For the last few years we have been involved in helping to deliver part of the curriculum for sex education with year 9 at Hitchin Boys’ School. We see the whole of the year group over one busy morning as they go round different sessions to do with sex education. We lead a session thinking about all the different relationships we have around us, what we look for in those relationships and how intimate relationships are different to any other.  The part of the workshop that stuck out to me the most was when we were talking about what the media shows us about relationships and how that is usually very different to what we actually want relationships to be about.

Andy Hanahoe, Head of PSHE at HBS had this to say about our involvement:

‘As part of HBS sex education program Paul Harris along with his co-worker  Kieran Murphy have delivered a session on relationships for the last few years.  Not only have the boys found these sessions informative but also give a different angle to a often difficult subject matter.  Both Paul and Kieran have a wonderful relaxed manner, which comes across during these sessions and helps to create an open discussion which the boys enjoy.  I asked one pupil this afternoon, which was his favourite session, and he replied without hesitation ’ the one from PHASE about relationships’.  I think this is evidence in its self that Paul and Kieran do a wonderful job in supporting the schools in Hitchin.’
